Skillyn ("we", "our", "us") is a professional networking and live learning platform operated by Mohammed Amir, founder of Skillyn, based in India. Skillyn enables professionals to connect, share knowledge, teach live sessions, learn from domain experts, and build their professional careers.

We collect the following categories of information when you use Skillyn:
Information you provide directly:
- Full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, and location
- Professional headline, bio (up to 3,000 characters), profile photo, and banner image
- Work experience, job titles, company names, duration, descriptions, and key achievements
- Educational background — school, college, university, degrees, grades
- Professional skills, domain tags, certifications, and uploaded certificate documents
- Content you post — articles, tips, comments, replies, and problem board posts
- Room creation details — course titles, descriptions, schedules, pricing, and session blueprints
- Session links you paste, recordings you upload, and materials you share
- WhatsApp number (optional, for mentor coordination only)
- Payment information (processed securely by Razorpay — not stored by Skillyn)
Information collected automatically:
- Device type, operating system, and browser information
- IP address and approximate location
- Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform
- Session attendance, ratings given and received, and certificates earned
- Connection requests sent, accepted, and declined
When you fill in our coming soon interest form, we collect your name, email, city, domain, experience level, company, selected skills, and any comments you choose to share. This data is sent to skillyn25@gmail.com and stored securely for launch communication only.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not allow advertisers to target you on Skillyn.
- The concept of combining a LinkedIn-style professional network with live domain-specific learning sessions (Rooms) is an original product idea owned by Skillyn
- The Problem Board feature — where professionals post real work challenges and get matched with mentors for 1-to-1 live sessions — is an original Skillyn invention
- The auto-resume generation system that creates HR-downloadable PDFs from professional profiles is an original Skillyn product feature
- The HR recruiter access layer with talent search, domain filtering, and one-click resume download is an original Skillyn business concept
- No part of the Skillyn concept, design, or business model may be copied, replicated, or adapted by any third party without explicit written permission from Skillyn
Content you post on Skillyn:
You retain full ownership of all content you create and post on Skillyn — including posts, articles, course materials, session recordings, and any knowledge you share. By posting on Skillyn, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to display, distribute, and store your content solely for the purpose of operating the platform.
We will never:
- Sell, license, or commercially exploit your original content to third parties
- Claim ownership of knowledge, teaching materials, or session content you create
- Use your course content or session recordings outside the platform without your explicit consent
- Share your session recordings, course materials, or student data with any party other than enrolled students
Any attempt to copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or replicate Skillyn's platform concept, feature design, business model, or user data using automated tools or manual methods is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action under applicable Indian intellectual property law (Copyright Act 1957, Information Technology Act 2000, and Trade Secrets law).
If you are a mentor on Skillyn, everything you teach — your methods, frameworks, examples, and materials — remains entirely your intellectual property. Skillyn provides the platform infrastructure. You own the knowledge.
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Razorpay — India's payment gateway, for processing session and room payments. Razorpay has its own privacy policy and is compliant with RBI regulations.
- Firebase / Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, for storing your profile data, posts, and session information securely.
- OneSignal — for delivering push notifications (session reminders, booking confirmations). They receive only your device push token, not personal profile data.
- HR recruiters on Skillyn — only if you have enabled "Allow HR to download my resume" in your Privacy Settings. HR recruiters can see your professional profile and download your resume PDF. Your Mentor/Learner role, earnings, and ratings are excluded from the downloaded resume.
- Other Skillyn users — your public profile, posts, mentor badge (if enabled), and room listings are visible to all users. Your earnings are never visible to other users.
- Legal requirements — if required by Indian law, court order, or government authority, we may disclose specific data as legally compelled.
We never share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
We implement the following security measures to protect your personal information:
- All data transmitted between your device and Skillyn's servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms — we never store plain text passwords
- Payment data is never stored on Skillyn servers — it is processed entirely by Razorpay's PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure
- Access to user data within our team is restricted on a need-to-know basis
- Database backups are encrypted and stored in secure cloud environments
- We conduct periodic security reviews and update our infrastructure as threats evolve
While we take reasonable precautions, no internet transmission is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at skillyn25@gmail.com.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data on Skillyn:
- Right to access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to correction — update or correct any inaccurate information directly in your profile settings
- Right to deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated personal data. We will process this within 30 days. Note: anonymised usage data used for platform analytics may be retained.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a standard machine-readable format (JSON/CSV)
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to stop processing your data for specific purposes
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g. HR resume download), you can withdraw this at any time via Privacy Settings
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest grounds

Skillyn uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential cookies — required for login sessions, authentication, and basic platform functionality. Cannot be disabled.
- Preference cookies — remember your language, notification settings, and display preferences.
- Analytics cookies — anonymised data about how features are used, which pages are visited most, and where users drop off. This helps us improve the platform.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not allow third-party advertising networks to place cookies on Skillyn.
You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent some platform features from working correctly.
All payments on Skillyn — room bookings, seat reservations, 1-to-1 session fees, and mentor payouts — are processed by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway compliant with RBI guidelines.
Skillyn does not store your card number, UPI ID, bank account details, or any other sensitive payment information on our servers. Razorpay's privacy policy governs how payment data is handled.
We retain transaction records — amounts, dates, booking references — for accounting and dispute resolution purposes for a period of 7 years, as required by Indian tax law.
Mentor earnings: Your total earnings, per-session revenue, and payout history are visible only to you in your personal dashboard. This information is never shown publicly on your profile unless you explicitly choose to display it.
Skillyn charges a 15% platform commission on all paid sessions. This is deducted automatically from each transaction. You keep 85% of every booking. Full breakdowns are visible in your Earnings Dashboard.
Skillyn is a professional platform intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 years of age.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account on Skillyn, please contact us at skillyn25@gmail.com and we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform evolves, new features are added, or legal requirements change. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Send an email notification to all registered users at their registered email address
- Display a prominent notice on the platform for at least 14 days
Your continued use of Skillyn after changes are notified constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you disagree with any changes, you may delete your account at any time.
